24th of February 2011

DX Mail Christchurch branch is currently operating with a skeleton staff however all phones and fax are diverted to the Auckland office until further notice.

  • There are no street mail deliveries currently being undertaken by DX posties at this time. DX will advise when the street mail deliveries commence again.
  • All postal mail going to PO Boxes and Private Bags plus rural delivery in the Canterbury region has been suspended by NZ Post until Monday 28th Feb.
  • Please be aware however that if you have a bulk mail send that needs uplifting from a mail house in Christchurch DX Mail can line haul to the nearest operating NZ Post Mail Centre which will be either Wellington or Palmerston North.
  • DX box to box service deliveries will only be attempted where possible and safe. Cordons in the central city and business closures have limited our ability to deliver, as has the lack of fuel in Christchurch.
  • DX Mail will be assessing the status of the DX Exchanges in the Christchurch Region over the next few days.
  • Any mail outs should be taken directly to DX Mail Christchurch at Ivan Crescent, Christchurch Airport.
  • All Freightways branches in Christchurch are open and operating on skeleton staff.
  • Freightways road and air linehaul services resumed their Christchurch based operations last night. Where possible all Christchurch mail movements connected with the Freightways linehaul network but there may some delays. Service delays within the Christchurch metropolitan area are to be expected. Deliveries to South Island destinations outside Christchurch are rapidly returning to normal.
